Light has a central symbolic meaning in every religion. The right lighting therefore plays a special role in sacred buildings: It is not only about the interplay of light and shadow but also about highlighting the sacred architecture with lighting accents and creating an inviting and contemplative atmosphere.
KOLARZ was entrusted with the lighting design for the renovated Kobersdorf synagogue in Burgenland, Austria. The light objects are made of solid brass and were designed in consultation with the Federal Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the Landesimmobilien-Gesellschaft Burgenland according to historical models. The brass parts are polished and deliberately manufactured without protective lacquering to allow for a natural darkening. The individual levels of the chandelier & wall luminaires are wired for DALI capability and provide atmospheric light thanks to the individually controllable and dimmable light objects.
